Using the Fishing Rod

Meet Benson the Bear at Fishing Beach. He first gives you a net; catch a Runt and trade it for a rod. Aim and cast towards a fishing spot, wait for a bite, then repeatedly press the action control to reel it in. Upgrades increase the number of fish awarded without changing the species in that spot.

Upgrades

Improve this tool through the Upgrade Well. The Hardwood and Gold upgrades require Well level 1. Buy Hardwood before Gold; each upgrade applies across the flock.

Reaching deeper water

The pier built by Splinter opens the deeper spots for Lunker and Whopper. Rod upgrades increase your catch; they do not replace unlocking the pier.
